Last updated: October 16, 2025

Welcome to Imo Anochi. We value your trust. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, platform, programs, events, groups, mentorship, messaging channels (e.g., email/SMS/WhatsApp), and any other services we provide (collectively, the “Services”).

If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the Services.

1) Who We Are

2) Information We Collect

2.1 Information you provide directly

  • Account details (name, email, phone, password), profile information, demographics you choose to share.

  • Intake forms and program registrations (areas of interest/concern, preferred scheduling, location, language).

  • Group/mentorship participation preferences, messages you post, files you upload.

  • Support requests and communications (email, SMS, WhatsApp, contact forms).

  • Donation details (amount, frequency, tribute messages); payment card data is handled by our payment processors, not stored by us.

  • School/organization partnership info (organization name, program needs, participant counts).

2.2 Information we collect automatically

  • Device and usage data (IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages viewed, referring/exit pages, timestamps).

  • Cookies and similar technologies (see Cookies & Analytics below).

2.3 Information from others

  • Facilitators/mentors may record attendance and high-level session notes (non-clinical).

  • Partner organizations (e.g., schools, synagogues, nonprofits) may provide contact info for program coordination.

  • Payment and donation processors provide transaction confirmations.

  • With your permission, referrals from or to third-party providers.

Sensitive information: You may choose to share sensitive personal information (e.g., health-related experiences or religious practices) to receive appropriate support. We only use such information with your consent and to provide the Services you request.

3) How We Use Information

  • Provide, secure, and improve the Services (accounts, groups, events, mentorship, resource access).

  • Match you to programs and mentors; manage scheduling, reminders, and participation.

  • Moderate community spaces; enforce guidelines; protect safety.

  • Communicate about programs, updates, and opportunities (you can opt out anytime).

  • Process donations and acknowledgments; provide tax receipts.

  • Analyze usage to improve accessibility, inclusivity, and effectiveness (often in aggregated or de-identified form).

  • Comply with law, protect our rights, and prevent misuse or fraud.

Legal bases (EEA/UK users): consent, contract performance, legitimate interests (e.g., safety, improvement), legal obligation, and—rarely—vital interests (risk of harm).

4) When We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share only as needed:

  • Service providers/processors (hosting, SMS/email, video, CRM, analytics, payment, background checks for mentors) under contract, limited to our instructions.

  • Facilitators and mentors to deliver the program(s) you request and for safety oversight.

  • Partner organizations (schools, synagogues, nonprofits) when you register through or for their programs.

  • Referrals to external professionals only with your consent (e.g., clinicians, community agencies).

  • Legal/safety: when required by law or to protect you, others, or our Services.

  • Organizational changes: in case of a merger, restructuring, or transfer consistent with this Policy.

5) Safety, Confidentiality & Community Spaces

  • Groups and mentorship are confidential within program guidelines. Facilitators may document attendance and limited notes to support safety and quality.

  • Participants must follow community standards (kindness, no harassment, protect privacy, no recording).

  • Limitations: We may act on safety concerns (e.g., risk of harm) or policy violations, which can include notifying appropriate contacts or authorities as required by law.

Not therapy: Our programs are educational and peer-support oriented; they are not clinical care or a substitute for professional treatment.

6) Cookies & Analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and understand how our Services are used.

Your choices:

  • Use your browser settings to block or delete cookies (the Services may not function fully).

  • Some pages may use privacy-respecting analytics; where third-party analytics are used, we request IP masking and limited retention when available.

7) Communications (Email, SMS, WhatsApp)

By opting in, you agree to receive program reminders, updates, and resources. You can opt out at any time (unsubscribe links, “STOP” replies, or by contacting us). Messaging platforms (e.g., WhatsApp) have their own privacy terms; your phone number and messages may be visible to other members in a group chat—join only if comfortable. For confidential matters, use direct messages or email.

8) Children & Teens

Some programs may be available to participants under 18 with parent/guardian consent. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you believe a minor provided information without consent, contact us and we will take appropriate action.

9) Data Retention

We keep personal information only as long as necessary to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Typical retention:

  • Account/profile and participation records: while active and for a reasonable period thereafter.

  • Messaging logs and attendance notes: limited periods needed for safety and program integrity.

  • Donation records: as required by tax and nonprofit laws.
When no longer needed, we delete or de-identify information.

10) Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards (access controls, encryption in transit, least-privilege, staff training). No system is 100% secure. Please use strong passwords, protect your account, and contact us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.

11) Your Privacy Rights

11.1 Global rights (available to all users)

  • Access, correct, or delete certain personal information.

  • Object to or restrict certain processing.

  • Withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.

  • Opt out of non-essential communications.

11.2 EEA/UK/Swiss users (GDPR/UK GDPR)

You may have additional rights to data portability and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. Our legal bases are listed in Section 3.

11.3 California & certain U.S. states (CCPA/CPRA, etc.)

You may have rights to know/access, correct, delete, and opt out of “sales”/“sharing” (we do not sell personal data). You may also limit use of sensitive personal information to what is necessary to provide Services.

To exercise rights: Email privacy@imoanochi.org. We may verify your request and respond within the time required by law. Authorized agents may act on your behalf with proof of authority.

12) International Transfers

If you access the Services from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the U.S. and other countries with different data-protection laws. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses).

13) Third-Party Links & Integrations

Our Services may link to or embed third-party tools (video platforms, maps, payments, podcasts, WhatsApp). Your use of those services is subject to their privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party practices.

14) Donor Privacy

We keep donor information confidential, use it only for processing gifts, acknowledgments, and required reporting, and do not sell donor lists. You may opt out of public recognition or request anonymity.

15) Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted with a new “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, additional notice. Continued use means you accept the updated Policy.
